Louisiana College Begins NCCAA Baseball Championship Run

Louisiana College opens its run for the 2002 National Christian College Athletic Association Division I Baseball Championship on Wednesday (May 15), facing Greenville College (Ohio) in the 11 a.m. EDT tournament-opening game in Celina, Ohio.

The Wildcats, 19-19 overall and a third-place finisher in the ASC East Division standings (12-12), are the No. 8 seed in the 10-team field. Defending NCCAA national champion Faulkner University (Ala.) is the No. 1 seed.

Louisiana College is led by pitchers Jeremy Johnson, who finished the season with a 2.06 ERA, and Lucas Ledbetter, who posted eight wins and two saves. Outfielder Scott Townsend, who smacked 13 doubles and led the ASC with a .532 on-base percentage, leads the Wildcat offense.
