May 16, 2002

Hardin-Simmons University No. 1 doubles team of Mitch Aston and Matt Parkhill have been selected to participate in the May 20-22 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Individual Championships at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Aston will also compete for the NCAA III Individual Singles title at the championships. He is 37-3 on the season and is ranked fourth in the West region. Aston and Parkhill combined for an 11-1 season doubles record and led Hardin-Simmons to the 2002 ASC team title in April. A junior, Aston is two-time ASC West Division Most Valuable Player and earned ASC All-Conference and All-West Division First-Team honors in 2002. Parkhill was the 2002 ASC West Division Freshman of the Year and a member of the ASC All-West Division First-Team.

The national individual tournament includes 16 doubles teams and 32 singles players in a single-elimination draw. Previews and results from the NCAA Individual Men's Tennis Championships can be accessed at
