HSU Doubles Team Falls in Semifinals

May 24---Hardin-Simmons' duo Mitch Aston and Matt Parkhill advanced to the semifinal round of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Doubles Championship, finishing with a straight set loss to end their tournament run.

Aston and Parkhill lost 6-4, 6-3 to Kalamazoo College's Kyle Harding and Jeff Keen in the May 21 semifinal, completing the tournament tied for third. The Hardin-Simmons team opened doubles action with a 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 win over Andy Campbell and Duncan Howell of Rhodes College (May 20), then upended Rifat Perahva/David Ruttenberg of Tufts in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 6-2.

Aston also played in the NCAA Div. III Men's Tennis Singles Championship, losing in the first round to Vellu Antilla of Averett, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (4), 6-1.
