RICHARDSON, Texas ---- The 2002 American
Southwest Conference women's soccer postseason conference and division
awards were announced Thursday (Nov. 14) following voting by the
league's head coaches.
ASC Tournament champion and NCAA Regional-bound
University of Texas at Dallas earned several conference and division
awards. Forwards Kristin Andrews (Alvin, Texas) and
Stephanie Scarfone (Mesquite, Texas) were named to the
All-Conference team. Andrews is a three-time All-ASC pick (1999, 2000,
2002) while Scarfone is a first-time selection. UT Dallas head coach
John Antonisse was named ASC East Division Coach of the Year
while freshman Cassidy Acuff (Dallas, Texas) was
chosen East Defensive Freshman of the Year. Andrews and Scarfone were
joined on the All-East Division First Team by teammates Serena
Griffin (Lockhart, Texas) and Katy Turner (Austin,
Texas). Three other Comet players were All-East Division Second
Team award recipients.
ASC West Division champion Hardin-Simmons
University was represented by four all-conference honorees including
West Division Offensive Player of the Year Diana Bosch (Garland,
Texas) and West Division Defensive Player of the Year Mollie
Porter (Austin, Texas). Texas Lutheran University head
coach Tony Tommasi was selected as West Division Coach of the
Year.
