2002 All-Conference Football Teams Announced by American Southwest Conference

Preston MeyerRyan HarrisRICHARDSON, Texas----American Southwest Conference football champion and NCAA Division III Championship-bound University of Mary Hardin-Baylor placed nine players on the ASC 2002 All-Conference First Team, led by ASC Defensive Player of the Year Preston Meyer (Sabinal, Texas) and ASC Offensive Lineman of the Year Ryan Harris (Waco, Texas). The All-Conference teams, selected by the 10 head coaches, was announced on Wednesday (Nov. 20).

Meyer, a three-time ASC All-Conference First Time award winner at linebacker, totaled xx tackles with 13 going for losses in the regular season. The senior led a Crusader defensive unit that led the ASC in both total and rushing defense. Meyer was the league's co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2000 and named the ASC 2002 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

Adam KingD'Andre WilsonPlaying at left guard, Harris led the UMHB offensive unit to the top ranking in ASC rush offense and scoring offense in 2002. Harris was also named to the 2002 ASC All-Conference First Team after earning honorable mention all-conference honors in 2001.

Howard Payne University quarterback Adam King (Amarillo, Texas) was selected ASC Offensive Player of the Year while Yellow Jacket defensive tackle D'Andre Wilson (Houston, Texas) was chosen ASC Defensive Lineman of the Year. King finished the regular-season as the conference and NCAA-III leader in total offense as well as ranked No. 1 in ASC passing average and pass efficiency. An All-Conference First-Team selection, King was the 2001 ASC Freshman of the Year. Wilson led the conference in tackles for loss (31) totaling 54 tackles and six sacks for the season. He was also named to the ASC All-Conference First-Team.

Pete FredenburgEast Texas Baptist University first-year running back RoShawn Johnson (Rayville, La.) was selected ASC Freshman of the Year. Johnson completed his first conference season ranked second in rushing and all-purpose yards and listed No. 10 in scoring average. Johnson is the only freshman selected for ASC All-Conference First Team honors in 2002.

UMHB head coach Pete Fredenburg, who led the Crusaders (10-0, ASC 9-0) to their first American Southwest Conference football crown and second consecutive NCAA Championships appearance, was named ASC Coach of the Year.
