ASC First Pitch Tournament: American
Southwest Conference teams face an early season weekend of conference
play when the East and West Division squads square-off for the ASC
First Pitch Tournament in Irving, Texas, on Friday and Saturday, March
7-8. The two-day tournament pits the East and West Division teams
against each other in the cross-division games. The tournament will be
held at Irving's Southwest Park, the site of the 2003 ASC Championship
Tournament. The Friday games are scheduled at Noon, 2:00 and 4:00
while Saturday games are set at 10:00, Noon and 2:00. Admission is
$5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students.
Numbers and Records: This ASC website is the place to locate statistics, results and updated league standings. The information is updated throughout the week. Also posted to the website is the conference softball records and annual results, the first compilation of historical softball data since the sport became an ASC championship sport in the 1999 season.

Concordia-Austin (0-6, 0-0 ASC): Despite the damp weather conditions, the Lady Tornados managed to get in a pair of home non-conference doubleheaders last weekend against Trinity (Feb. 28) and the University of Dallas (March 1).
East Texas Baptist (4-2, 0-0 ASC): The Lady Tigers are led at the plate by center fielder Tonya Minor who is hitting .421 and is a perfect 6-for-6 steal attempts. . . . Kristen Abernathy picked-up the complete game 3-1 win vs. Howard Payne on Saturday (March 1). The junior (3-0) was touched for just her first earned run allowed in three starts.
Howard Payne (2-6, 0-0 ASC): HPU snapped East Texas Baptist's 20-game home win streak with its 5-1 victory over the defending conference champions in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader (March 1). . . . The Lady Jackets warm up for the ASC First Pitch with a Tuesday (March 4) scrimmage vs. Ranger Junior College.
LeTourneau (0-4, 0-0 ASC): LeTourneau dropped both games in Saturday's doubleheader vs. Evangel, its first games since February 19.
Louisiana College (4-0, 0-0 ASC): The Lady Wildcats are one of two undefeated teams remaining in the ASC. . . . LC stopped NCAA Division I Southern University 7-2 and 7-0 on Friday (Feb. 28), and will face SU in a home doubleheader on Tuesday (March 4). . . . The Lady Wildcat pitching staff, the best in the ASC last season, has allowed only two runs in 25 innings pitched this season.
Mary Hardin-Baylor (2-2, 0-0 ASC): The Crusaders have been off for two full weeks and finally return to action with six games scheduled for the week. UMHB resumes the season with a doubleheader at Abilene Christian on Tuesday (weather permitting) before opening conference play at the Friday-Saturday ASC First Pitch Tournament.
Mississippi College (0-0, 0-0 ASC): Katie Waterbury threw a complete game 8-2 win vs. William Carey last Friday (Feb. 28) allowing five hits and striking-out two in seven innings. She did not walk a batter for the second consecutive game. . . . The Lady Choctaws prep for this weekend's ASC First Pitch Tournament with a Tuesday (March 4) home doubleheader vs. Rhodes College.
Ozarks (2-2, 0-0 ASC): Weather woes have kept the Lady Eagles off the diamond since their February 20 split at Arkansas Tech. Ozarks will see its first action in over two weeks with Friday's ASC First Pitch Tournament games.
Schreiner (0-0, 0-0 ASC): The Mountaineers are the only conference team that has not played a game this season, thanks to unfavorable weather. Schreiner is scheduled to host Evangel in a single game on Tuesday (March 4) before playing in this weekend's ASC First Pitch Tournament.
Sul Ross State (2-6, 0-0 ASC): SRSU posted home-and-away doubleheader splits with UT Permian Basin last week. The Lady Lobos won game one of the February 26 twinbill (3-1) and the second game of Saturday's (March 1) rematch, 10-3.
UT Dallas (1-3, 0-0 ASC): The Comets split their last two games, taking a 5-3 opening game win in the February 23 doubleheader at Texas Lutheran. UTD will have had an 11-day break when it begins ASC First Pitch Tournament play on Friday.
Texas Lutheran (3-1, 0-0 ASC): Brandi Jones drove in the game-tying run and pitched a scoreless eighth inning to win game one and came back in game two with a save in Texas Lutherans doubleheader sweep of the Trinity Tigers on Saturday (March 1). Jones drove home Odie Gonzalez with a single in the seventh to tie the game at 2-2. In game one, Jones gave up a two-out hit in the seventh before retiring the final batter to earn her first career save. . . . First-year pitcher Lauren Dobson won her first two starts. She is 2-0 with an 0.69 ERA.
