2003 Golf ChampionshipsConference Championship: The 2003 American Southwest Conference Men's and Women's Golf Championships close the regular-season schedule for the league. The two-day playoff is scheduled Monday and Tuesday (April 28-29) at Wildflower Country Club in Temple, Texas, and is hosted by the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Each day's play begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The men's championship is played over 54 holes (three rounds) with the women's championship 36 holes (two rounds). The course plays a par-72 for both the men and women. Twelve men's teams are entered and four women's teams plus individuals will play for the 2003 titles. . . . The Mary Hardin-Baylor women and the Hardin-Simmons men are defending ASC Golf Champions.

National Notice: The ASC Golf Championships will feature five NCAA-III top 15 teams, making the 2003 tournament one of the most competitive in league history. Among the ASC women's teams, host Mary Hardin-Baylor is ranked #2 nationally by Golf Stat while rival McMurry lists #12. On the men's side, UT Dallas is ranked #8 for a fourth week and Hardin-Simmons #10 for a second week. Mary Hardin-Baylor lists 12th in the men's national rankings. The McMurry men are #22 in the April 22 listing.
