Baseball Championship Day Two: UT-Dallas Beats Mississippi College;
Texas Lutheran Ousts Concordia; MC Knocks Out TLU

CLINTON,MS UT-Dallas senior Jared Franke allowed just two runs in seven innings of work to beat tournament host Mississippi College 9-2 and lead the Comets to the championship game of the ASC tournament.
Franke kept the Choctaw bats silent most of the day allowing just five hits and striking out four. He had plenty of support at the plate with two UTD homeruns by Caleb Chandler and Lawrence Valbuena. Both finished with three hits apiece and scored twice.
The game was close with UTD leading 4-2 until the Comets pushed five runs across in the final two innings to end any hopes of a Choctaws rally.
UTD advances to tomorrows championship game at 1:00 pm. They will face the winner of the Mississippi College / Texas Lutheran game later Friday night.
CLINTON,MS Texas Lutheran (37-5) first baseman John Krog continued his hot hitting with a pair of homeruns and three runs batted in to lead the Bulldogs to a 5-1 win over Concordia (30-14) and eliminated the Tornados from the ASC tournament. Krog is 8-10 in the tournament after a 5-5 day yesterday against UTD.
Texas Lutheran took control of the game early with runs in the second, third, and fourth innings. They picked up two insurance runs in the eighth inning on a two run shot by Krog to seal the win. Starter Matt Hunn pitched 7 2/3 strong innings to earn his fourth win of the season. Tornados starter Chema Chavez took a complete game loss dropping his record to 10-2.
Texas Lutheran advances to play tonight at 7:00 pm to face the loser of the UTD/Mississippi College game. Concordias season ends after a trip to the College World Series last year.
CLINTON,MS The Mississippi College Choctaws are advancing to the American Southwest Conference championship game after eliminating top ranked Texas Lutheran 13-5 at Frierson Field.
The Bulldogs entered the tournament ranked first in the country in the ABCA Division III Coachs Poll, but watched the Choctaws jump out to a 12-0 lead after five innings. Hal Thompson had a huge night at the plate with four hits including a homerun, three runs batted in, and two runs scored. Turk Stovall, Kent Chamblee, Chris Knight, Jason Curry, and Casey Smith each finished with two hits apiece.
True Freshman Jonathan Beacom came through for the Choctaws allowing four runs in 5 1/3 innings pitching with the big lead. He improves to 6-3.
Texas Lutheran was led by first baseman John Krog who had a huge tournament with 10 hits in 15 at bats including three homeruns, four doubles, and eight runs batted in. Krog hit three homeruns in his two games Friday against Concordia and Mississippi College.
The Choctaws will face UT-Dallas at 1:00 pm tomorrow needing two wins for the conference crown. UT-Dallas needs one win for the Championship.
