Women's Tennis All-Conference, Division Teams Named by American Southwest Conference

RICHARDSON, Texas ----- Junior Nancy Chandler of American Southwest Conference women's tennis champion Hardin-Simmons University tops the list of all-conference honorees announced today (May 6) by the league office following voting by the ASC head coaches.

Chandler was named to the all-conference team for a third time after being voted to First Team All-West Division honors for a third consecutive season. She is joined on the all-conference squad by two-time award winner Lauren Bicker of East Division champion Mississippi College. Seniors Diane Swalm of Mississippi College and Bobbye Thompson of Hardin-Simmons; junior Katherine Fountain of Mississippi College; sophomores Jenny Growcock of Texas Lutheran University and Stephanie Haynes of Hardin-Simmons; and freshman Ashley Diaz of Mississippi College complete the women's tennis all-conference team.

In addition to announcement of the all-conference teams, the ASC women's tennis coaches also released the East and West Division teams and individual award recipients. In the East Division, Bickey earned Most Valuable Player honors, Diaz was named Freshman of the Year and Holli Adams selected Newcomer of the Year. David Boteler of Mississippi College was named East Coach of the Year. In addition to Chandler's MVP award, other ASC West Division award winners include Angela Bryant of Texas Lutheran as Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year Jim Cole of Hardin-Simmons.
