ETBU Softball Set for NCAA Postseason Run

American Southwest Conference softball champion East Texas Baptist University opens its NCAA postseason run in Tacoma, Wash., facing Central Iowa in Friday's (May 9) first round regional championship games. The Tacoma regional is hosted by Pacific Lutheran University.

ETBU (30-11) is seeded third in the regional behind defending regional champion and No. 1 seed Pacific Lutheran (30-1) and second seed Central Iowa (32-4-1). Fourth-seed California Lutheran University (22-18) and fifth-seed Chapman University (29-8) complete the five-team regional field.

Four games are scheduled on Friday (May 9) with the ETBU-Central game second on the day's schedule. The loser of the ETBU game drops to the first elimination game later Friday afternoon with the winner advancing to face the game three winner on Saturday (May 10). The regional championship is scheduled for Sunday (May 11).

East Texas Baptist finished runner-up to PLU in the 2002 Tacoma regional.

Game 1: #4 California Lutheran vs. #5 Chapman, 10 a.m.
Game 2: #2 Central (Iowa) vs. #3 East Texas Baptist, Noon
Game 3: #1 Pacific Lutheran vs. Winner of Game 2, 2:30 p.m.
Game 4: Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2, 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 10
Game 5: Winner Game 1 vs. Winner game 3, Noon
Game 6: Winner Game 4 vs. Loser Game 3, 2 p.m.
Game 7: Loser Game 5 vs. Winner game 6, 4:30 p.m.

Sunday, May 11
Game 8 (championship): Winner Game 5 vs. Winner Game 7, Noon
Game 9 (if needed): Game 8 teams, 2:30 p.m.
