Ready for NCAA Baseball Regional Play

ASC baseball champion Mississippi College will call on postseason home-cooking magic for a second weekend when it opens NCAA Division III Baseball Championship regional play Thursday (May 15) against Fontbonne University.
The No. 12-ranked Choctaws (32-13) are the No. 2 seed and host for the six-team regional. Winners of the ASC East Division title, MC began its 2003 postseason run hosting the conference tournament and winning the league title with a 15-4 victory over UT Dallas in the championship game (May 3). Mississippi College faces fifth seed Fontbonne on Thursday (7 p.m.) in its tournament-opener. Fontbonne qualified out of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
The automatic qualifier from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, Carthage College (33-6), is the top-seeded team in the regional. The six-team field includes third seed Wartburg College (32-10-1) from the Iowa Intercollegiate Conference; at-large entry and No. 4 seed Emory University (32-13), and No. 6 seed Millsaps College (27-15) of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
The double-elimination tournament will be played over four days with three games scheduled Thursday, Friday and Saturday, followed by the championship on Sunday.
