Three weekends remain in the American Southwest Conference tennis season, with teams jockeying for position to earn a spot in the ASC Tennis Championship Tournament April 16-17. The top two seeded teams in each men’s and women’s division will compete for their respective ASC titles on the campus of the ASC East Division No. 1 women’s seed. . . . Five men’s and five women’s teams carry undefeated conference records into the final weekend of March.

Mississippi College completes a stretch of non-conference matches with Thursday’s (Mar. 25) home match vs. Alcorn State. The two MC squads play at division-leading UT Dallas on Saturday (Mar. 27). . . . Both Drew Brooks and Jonathan Barlow are undefeated in ASC East singles play while four women--Katherine Fountain, Ashley Diaz, Cameron Vaughan and Heather Schwartz have not lost in conference singles play. . . . Both MC teams blanked cross-town rival Millsaps College on Tuesday (Mar. 23).

McMurry battled not only its ASC West opponents but also the weather in last weekend’s conference road trip to Schreiner (Mar. 19) and Texas Lutheran (Mar. 20). Rain slowed both matches by combined rain-delays of seven hours. . . . The McMurry women posted a 7-2 win over Schreiner for their first win against the Mountaineers in coach Mark Hathorn’s three-year coaching tenure. . . . The Indians played Texas Lutheran tough, winning 47 games in singles after dropping doubles points by 8-2, 8-5 and 8-6 match scores.

Texas Lutheran won both men’s and women’s ASC West matches vs. McMurry (Mar. 20). The Bulldog men blanked the Indians 7-0 while the TLU women won 8-1. . . . Texas Lutheran split a mid-week conference match against Schreiner, taking the women’s match 9-0 and dropping the men’s side 7-0.

The Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s team finally got some home court time on Tuesday (Mar. 23), but found themselves on the low end of a 7-2 match against the College of St. Catherine’s (Minn.). . . . Both UMHB teams have hectic ASC West schedules this weekend. The Lady Crusaders host Concordia, Texas Lutheran and Howard Payne in succession Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Mar. 26-28). The Crusaders will play TLU and HPU in back-to-back Saturday-Sunday matches. . . . Megan Nalley sports a 5-0 season record in singles. . . . Doubles partners Joshua Glaser and Jordan Mangano carry a 5-0 record.

Louisiana College looks to break into the conference win column when its travels to LeTourneau for a women’s match on Friday (Mar. 26). . . . Courtney Joiner leads the Lady Wildcats with a 3-1 season mark in singles.

Sul Ross State posted its first women’s win of the season with an 8-1 ASC West win vs. Concordia-Austin last Friday (Mar. 19). Heather Hightower and Jessica Yanez won at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, and teamed to win their No. 1 doubles match as well.
