Hardin-Baylor Teams Sweep ASC Golf Championships

KERRVILLE, Texas --- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor used Tuesday's low team rounds to capture both American Southwest Conference men's and women's golf championships at Comanche Trace Golf Club in Kerrville, Texas. It is the first time the same school's men's and women's teams have swept the league's golf titles since UMHB did it in 2001.
No. 2-ranked in NCAA Division III, Mary Hardin-Baylor women carded a final round 315 for a 36-hole 638 (323-315-638) to extend their dominance in the ASC to six straight titles. The Crusader women breezed to a 57-stroke victory over runner-up Hardin-Simmons University (358-337-695) in the five-team tournament.
The Mary Hardin-Baylor men played consistently over the 54-hole men's championship, carding rounds of 297-296-296 (889) to win its second ASC men's golf championship and first since 2001. The Crusader men bettered the University of Texas at Tyler by 22 strokes (313-302-296) to win the 11-team tournament.
Senior Holly Glover (Breckenridge, Texas) won women's medalist honors with a five-over 149 (73-76), bettering defending ASC medalist Brittany Cary (Sylvester, Texas/Roby HS) of McMurry and teammate Meredith McArthur (Houston, Texas) by 12 strokes (83-78-161).
Men's medalist honors went to sophomore Ryan Salinas (Mansfield, Texas/MHS) of Hardin-Simmons University who shot a one-over par 217 (77-71-69) to beat runner-up Dillon Gooch (Temple, Texas) of Mary Hardin-Baylor by two strokes (75-72-72).
