Austin Named ASC Executive Committee President May 26, 2005 |

RICHARDSON, Texas --- Dr. Bud Austin, president of LeTourneau University, has been elected president of the American Southwest Conference Executive Committee by vote of the conference's Council of Presidents at the group's annual meeting in Dallas on Thursday (May 26)
Austin, who has served as president of LeTourneau since 1986, will serve as the ASC Executive Committee president for the 2005-06 academic year. His term is effective June 1. Dr. Bob Riley, president of East Texas Baptist University, will serve as vice president of the ASC Executive Committee in 2005-06. Dr. Tim Summerlin, president of Schreiner University and conference president in 2004-05, continues on the committee as Past President. In addition to election of its 2005-06 officers, the ASC Council of Presidents accepted the withdrawal of conference member Austin College effective at the close of the 2005-06 academic year. Austin College has accepted membership to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in August 2006. The American Southwest Conference will celebrate its 10th year of league competition in 2005-06. Sixteen colleges and university located in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas are members of the NCAA Division III athletic conference. 2005-06 American Southwest Conference
