WAVERLY, Iowa Texas Lutheran head coach Kandice Holamon Erwin was named the 2005 NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Womens Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year. She is one of eight womens track and field coaches in NCAA Division III to receive a regional coaching award presented by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Erwin guided the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to the 2005 American Southwest Conference Womens Outdoor Track and Field Championship (a first for TLU) and coached six TLU student-athletes to berths in the 2005 NCAA Division III Mens and Womens Outdoor Championships. This years national outdoor championships are hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. The championships are scheduled for competition Thursday through Saturday.
In addition to the 2005 conference title in womens track and field, Erwin led TLU to three consecutive conference championships in womens cross country. The Bulldogs are making their third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Division III Mens and Womens Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Erwin is completing her fourth year at Texas Lutheran as head coach for womens cross country and womens track and field. The national championships are the final TLU assignment for Erwin as she has been named head coach for womens track and field at NCAA Division I University of Dayton.
