Set to Host ASC Golf Championships

The University of Texas at Tyler will host the 2006 American Southwest Conference Golf Championships next Monday and Tuesday at Pine Dunes Resort and Golf Club just outside of Frankston.
The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Monday. Mens teams will play 54 holes 36 on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. The womens teams will play 18 holes each on Monday and Tuesday for a total of 36.
UT Tyler is very excited to be hosting this years conference championships, said Patriots head golf coach King Campbell. We feel that Pine Dunes is an excellent course to host this event and we believe that it will offer the players a first-class experience.
Eleven ASC mens teams and five womens teams are competing in the championship.
According to the courses web site, Pine Dunes challenging par 72 layout with its majestic century old pine trees, contoured fairways and rolling terrain provides the most peaceful setting that golfers will ever experience for a world-class round of golf. Tucked away in the piney forests of East Texas, Pine Dunes has earned a solid reputation as one of the best courses you can play in America.
Pine Dunes received 4.5 stars and was named a Top Ten of Americas Best New Upscale Public Courses by Golf Digest. Golfweek proclaimed Pine Dunes the No. 2 Best Course in Texas.
