Falls to Wheaton in Womens Soccer Sectional Final November 18, 2006 |

Hardin-Simmons gave up three second half goals to Wheaton and ended its longest ever playoff run with a 3-0 loss in the Sectional Final of the NCAA Division III Womens Soccer Championship on Saturday night. The game was scoreless at half, but Wheaton scored goals in the 50, 66 and 80th minutes. Libby Passiales scored the first goal and Taryne Lee added the final two. The game saw the end of four Cowgirls careers. Whitney Piendak ended as the schools second all-time leading scorer. Mindi Zamora, Becca Neal and Marissa Wichkoski also saw their career end. The trip to the sectional finals was the furthest any Cowgirl soccer team had ever been. HSU ended its season with a record of 18-1-5 and Wheaton improved to 21-2 and advanced to the Final Four. |
