Hardin-Simmons Puts on Successful Neighborhood Blitz
Cookout
ABILENE, Texas - The Hardin-Simmons University
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee organized a cookout that fed more
than 150 volunteers at the inaugural Hardin-Simmons Neighborhood
Blitz. The event was part of the schools initiative to clean-up
the area around the HSU campus. Students, faculty and staff worked on
projects at 50 houses on March 31 (Saturday), ranging from mowing and
weed eating, to trash-hauling and painting. The SAAC committee donated
the food for the cookout and then cooked the meal for the volunteers.
Each sport brought a different item for the cookout and due to a
bigger-than-anticipated crowd, another trip to the grocery store had
to be made.
