May 12 -- Louisiana College, Mississippi College Bow Out of NCAA
Softball West Regional
No. 4-ranked Louisiana College and No. 9-ranked
Mississippi College each played an extra inning game on Saturday and
both were eliminated at the NCAA Softball Championship regional at
Co-Co Cola Lady Wildcat Softball Field in Pineville, La. An
All-Tourney team was selected and members are in this release.
May 11 -- Mississippi College Avoids Elimination Twice, Host
Louisiana College Enjoys Day Off
No. 9-ranked Mississippi College collected a pair of
elimination game wins 5-1 against No. 6 Chapman and 7-1 against
Trinity (Texas) on Friday, while host and fourth-ranked
Louisiana College had the day off in the winners bracket. The third
ASC program in the seven-team NCAA Softball Championship regional at
Co-Co Cola Lady Wildcat Softball Field in Pineville, La.,
Hardin-Simmons, was eliminated after dropping a 1-0 decision to
Trinity to begin the day. LC watched as No. 2-ranked Linfield fell to
Redlands, which the Lady Wildcats will face to begin play on Saturday
at noon for a ticket to Sundays title game. MC will face
Linfield on Saturday at 2:00 in another elimination game. Two of the
four remaining teams in the field are from the ASC.
May 10 -- Day One of NCAA Softball West Regional Complete; Host

Day One of NCAA Softball West Regional Complete; Host
LC Earns Run-Rule Win No. 4-ranked Louisiana College defeated Chapman
11-3 in five innings to cap the first day of the NCAA Softball
Championships West Regional at Co-Co Cola Lady Wildcat Softball
Field in Pineville, La. Host and American Southwest Conference team
LC, which had a first-round bye, fell in a 3-0 hole after the first
inning before rallying. The two other ASC teams in the seven-team,
double elimination tournament, No. 9 Mississippi College and
conference champion Hardin-Simmons, both fell on Thursday. MC dropped
an 8-3 decision to No. 22 Redlands before HSU bowed to No. 2 Linfield
9-1 in six innings. The tourney began with a 1-0 win in 14 innings by
Chapman over Trinity (Texas).
Apr 29 -- Cowgirls Take Second Straight ASC Softball Title
Hardin-Simmons University won its second straight ASC
softball championship with a 7-4 win over No. 7-ranked Louisiana
College on Saturday afternoon at Southwest Park in Irving, Texas. The
Cowgirls (29-14), who went through the tourney unbeaten, wasted no
time getting on the scoreboard with three runs in the top of the first
inning and used the right arm of tournament MVP Arin Spence to secure
the victory and an automatic berth into the NCAA national tournament.

Mar 4 -- East Division Goes 9-5 Again on Final Day to Rule First
Pitch Tournament
Just as its teams did a day earlier, the East
Division put together a nine-win performance on Saturday against the
West to claim bragging rights at the 2007 American Southwest
Conference First Pitch Softball Tournament at Oran Good Park in
Farmers Branch, Texas. No. 11-ranked Louisiana College, Mississippi
College and Texas-Tyler all East teams finished the
annual two-day cross-division tourney with spotless 4-0 records. East
Texas Baptist went 3-1, while Howard Paynes 3-1 mark was the
best from the West.

Louisiana College, Hardin-Simmons Picked to Claim Division
Softball Crowns
The two teams that have met in the title game of the
ASC Championship Tournament the past two seasons and have won their
respective divisions in that time frame, Louisiana College and
Hardin-Simmons University, have been predicted to be division softball
champions again in 2007 after a vote of each the divisions head
coaches and sports information directors as well as selected media
members.
ETBU's Shipley-Gipson, Hardin-Simmons' Spence Expected to Take
Top Awards Again; Miss. College's Perry, UMHB's Kripner Also Honored
Two-time reigning Division Players of the Year
Christy Shipley-Gipson of East Texas Baptist University and Arin
Spence of Hardin-Simmons University, along with Mississippi Colleges
Katie Perry and University of Mary Hardin-Baylors Kacie Kripner,
collected 2007 American Southwest Conference softball preseason player
of the year honors on Wednesday.
