American Southwest Conference tennis teams took a break from dual match play to compete in last weekend's conference Individual Tennis Tournament hosted by UT Tyler (Feb. 27-28). Women's Flight Championship Match Results Mary Hardin-Baylor will christen its new UMHB Tennis Center on March 12 when the men's and women's teams host Howard Payne in an ASC West dual match (2 p.m.). . . . Megan Nalley carries a 4-0 overall singles record. . . . UMHB opens its conference schedule on Saturday (March 6) at Sul Ross State. The Texas Lutheran women's team hosted Ursuline College of Ohio on Wednesday before an ASC dual match at Howard Payne on Saturday (March 6). . . . Bulldogs men's players Rodney Munoz, Derek Sledge and David Wanja each won opening round matches at the ASC Individual Tournament marking the first time TLU men's singles players had advanced past the first round at the tourney. Hardin-Simmons women have won all of its season dual matches 9-0, including wins over ASC West foes Concordia-Austin, McMurry and Sul Ross State. . . . Rebecca Watkins has not lost more than two games in a set this spring, jumping to a 10-0 overall singles mark in the season. Teammate McKenzie Swindle also carries a 10-0 singles record for the season. . . . David Wu lists No. 8 in the region and 25th nationally in the ITA rankings. Wu is 5-0 overall and 3-0 ASC West in singles matches this spring. Conference newcomer UT Tyler swept Austin College, 7-0, in dual match action on Tuesday (March 2). |
